And alot of stores aren't going to change the tag prices. :(

As the VAT reduction was always meant to be temporary most shops kept the ORIGINAL VAT INCLUSIVE price on the tickets and a reductions was given at the till.
It was easier for them to adjust the tills than put new tickets on everything.
When VAT goes back up to 17.5% all the shops have to do is press a few buttons on the main computerised till system and that is it. No hassle, No running around putting new tickets on thousands of items of stock.
It isn't going to be a disaster unless the compute system goes down.

VAT on Fuel is ALWAYS LOWER than on anything else.
Can't find out what the rate is but think that it is 15% or lower.

99.9% of prices in shops display prices including VAT so it won't affect anyone really.
My opinion is that i don't want to pay an extra 2 %26amp; a half percent VAT and they should keep it at 15 percent. They should keep fuel prices down aswell. We should all protest at this and have a big riot.
the small increase in vat to its original amount is a red herring, business are shrewd enough in massaging the price of products, for example, supermarkets have been doing this on a weekly basis since year dot, and its only because of consumer groups working tirelessly that we notice it
When the temporary VAT rate of 15% was introduced, the date of reversion to 17.5% was announced. retailers have therefore had the requisite advance notice. I think you should amend your concept of utter disasters.
Unless you buy something hugely expensive, you will hardly notice the difference.
