Do you ever wonder if there is a reason Bob Barker sometimes paused to finish a game?

I am watching Price is Right and every once in a while, he will pause a min or so before pulling the last tag or removing some item.

I always wondered if there was something happenig we werent seeing. Like a changing of the price.

About half the time the person still wins, but it just seems weird that he seems to stall a lot

I always thought he did that for dramatic effect, or maybe he paused to make sure the cameras were in the right place. Do you dare accuse Mr. Barker of cheating? He's like the patriarch of game shows. No!

He's just helping to build up that incredible suspense. lol
he's the anti-christ.
To ramp up the anxiety of the contestant. Also, to stir up the audience a little more. It also creates tension, excitement, etc. Bob Barker ruled! We'll see how Drew Carrey does.
It is just a technique to build up suspense. The view WANTS to see the price and find out if the contestant has won. Making us wait makes us want to see it more.

Remember, when we were kids how our parents wouldn't let us have dessert until finished with our main course. It made us even that much more eager to get to our dessert.
Suspense. One of my favorite TPIR clips:

He does this on purpose to make it more exciting or try to.
