Who do I contact?

When, on numerous occasions, a store I frequent charges more at the register than the price marked on the shelf, And then the idiot clerk says %26quot;Oh they change the prices in the computer and then send us the tags. To make thing worse, the clerk refuses to sell the products at the marked price. Happens rather often. Is this a matter for the Treasury apartment, the IRS? It really grates my chese.
Who do I contact?
Start with the district manager, follow it up with a note to corporate headquarters, and finally send something to the Federal Trade Commission if you don't like the progress.
Who do I contact?
call the local trading standards look for their phone number in yellow pages or websites .. complain there and they will sort the shop out
File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau. They both allow you to file complaints online.

A bait and switch is similar, but it's more like when a store lures you in with the hope a buying a product at a discount, then once you get there they say they're out of it and then talk you into buying a more expensive substitute.
Washington State has a %26quot;Weights and Measures%26quot; Department that oversees things like this. Check with your state to see if they have something simular and file a complaint. Could fall under the states agricultural department. They check on things like prices, but also verify that grocery store scales, gas pumps, etc are calibrated properly.

Bait and Switch refers to a practice of advertising a product at a really low price and then pressuring you into buying a higher priced item. It could be that you come in and the advertised item isn't in stock, but they can sell you this more expensive model or make the advertised item sound like such crap that no one would want to buy it. They Bait you into the store, but then try to Switch you into a higher priced item.
I do not know the laws for this, but in Connecticut several years ago I believe it was the law that they had to sell at the lower of the marked prices on the item or the shelves. If they won't do so ask to speak to a manager.
