Playstation 3 is it worth getting?

I use to be a big playstation fan boy this changed however with the price tag that was attached to the console, so i went and got and xbox 360 a year ago, however since xmas i have been getting problems with my console and not to mention xbox live lag, my question is can anyone list a number of points why a ps 3 is worth getting
Playstation 3 is it worth getting?
The price is an excellent price for what you're getting. I see no reason to complain about price.

Here are a list of reasons to get a PS3:

-Games are Blu-Ray, they can hold 25GB worth of data on a single disc, and 50 on a dual layered disc, Xbox360 can only hold up to 9GB.

-The games that have been release haven't even shown a third of that the PS3 can do.

-Bluetooth support, no more having to have wires, or aim your controller directly at the console, because with Bluetooth, you can play your PS3 from an incredible distance, and it even works through walls.

-The PS3 has 8 processors, while the xbox360 only has 3.

-Sony is constantly releasing updates to make the PS3 better than it currently is.

-It plays High-Def movies, with the Xbox360, you have to buy an add on device.

There are many, many more reasons to buy a PS3, these are just a few.
Playstation 3 is it worth getting?
i have a 360 and i would rather get a wii than a playstation. might as well wait for playstation 4 because there isn't any reason to get a playstation. there are no games hot enough that are exclusively playstation and its way too expensive. the only good thing is that online gaming is free
I have to agree with you about the price which was and still is ridiculous ! Why a game company would market a gaming console for $500-$600 is beyond me !

On the bright side, the price of the PS3's components are starting to come down and as a result, the console should get a cost reduction. For now, the 40GB is selling for $399 and the now discontinued 80GB is selling for $499.

Rumor says Sony is set to release yet another version of the PS3 to be announced at the GDC (Game Developers Conference) set for February 18-22 (Watch G4 TV for details). At that time, it's expected that Sony will announce either a 120GB or 160GB PS3 equipped with the Dual Shock 3 controller and return of the PS2's %26quot;Emotion Engine%26quot; CPU which came installed on the now discontinued 20GB and 60GB model for near 100% Backwards Compatibility.

The 80GB was roughly 65%-85% Backwards Compatible due to Sony cutting costs and removing the Emotion Engine CPU and opting to go with a software %26quot;Emulator%26quot; to achive PS2 Backward Compatibilty.

The new PS3 version is said to be the same price as the 80GB, $499 !
-great bluray player, considered cheap in that category

-highly anticipated game(s)

-great build quality

-great quality control

-full HD

-seems to be coming back from the dead with the better sales

-(from last point) online community might grow

-free online gaming

-rumble controller coming out

-sixaxis (nothing but trouble so far, but hey, it might get better)

-sleek looking thing

-no power brick

-bluetooth controllers

-your own hard drive

-price has dropped (especially in hong kong, a bit cheaper than the xbox 360 pro)

i am an owner of an xbox 360, and i actually don't really know which one is better, so far, the xbox has more than fulfilled my gaming needs, so unless i really want a bluray player in the next few months, i probably won't get a ps3.

major cons:

-game library small, most games are essentially expensive versions of xbox 360 games with basically the same graphics

-online community population = missing? though it might improve

i think the ps3 is a fine piece of machinery. just for bluray, i think its worth it already.
definatly, with the great line up of exlusive titles for 08 its a no brainer, i have a ps3 and i never even considered a 360, ps3's are a solid console and have their future set up untill 2017 when sony say they may make anew console, xbox's have shown everything they can do and have become old already, microsoft will have to create a new console in at least 2-3 years to keep up.
Blueray is a good reason to buy a ps3.I bought the ps3 to play games once I saw the quality of the blueray movies I was impresed it makes regular dvds look like bootleg and HD dvds look like regular dvds.Down side is that you may have to buy a TV.1080p.
1)Ps3 is cheaper once you factor in all the stuff you have to get for the 360 to get it up and running. Wifi $100 xbox live account $50.

2)Ps3 is a great choice for online play if you acctually have real friends with a ps3. If you like playing random stupid people then buy a 360.

3)Game lineup is really starting to pickup for the ps3 and the next year game wise is a liltle bleak for the 360.

3)Home is going to be awsome.

4)Full HD

5)3% failure rate on ps3 and 27% falilure rate on the 360. Who sells a piece of crap like that. They should be sued for selling faulty products.
Here are some things to consider:

-Excellent BluRay player.

-Amazing Graphics.

-FULL HD (1080p).

-Does not OVERHEAT like the 360.

-Runs virtually SILENT.

-Supports up to SEVEN (7) controllers.

-SIXAXIS wireless motion sensor controller.

-You can upgrade your HDD to say 160Gb in under 5 minutes for about $100 (USD).

-Media Card Reader.

-FREE online access, unlike Xbox live which is $50 a year.

-SONY is always updating and IMPROVING the PS3's operating system.

-No external power adaptor like the 360 (a.k.a. The Brick).

-Less than 1% hardware/software failure rate.

-WiFi (wireless) internet connection.

-Blue Tooth campatibility.

-You can add a keyboard.

-You can add a mouse.

-You can add a camera.

-You can add a PRINTER.

-The price has come down significantly.

-FREE game demo downloads.

-FREE game trailer downloads.

-FREE movie trailer downloads.

-FREE additional game content (occasionally).

AND HERE IS THE BIGGEST REASON: Toshiba will more than likely announce this week that they will be dropping the HD-DVD format. Which means that after this week (with great certainty) the HD-DVD format will be %26quot;DEAD%26quot; and BLURAY will be the ONLY HD format, which means that in the future, if you want to buy an HD movie, it will only be available in the BluRay format which is what the PS3 supports!!
